Our Story

Veecraft didn't start as a public server. It started as a living room idea in November 2020.

The Origin

Veecraft was born because my wife, Vee, wanted a safe place to play Minecraft with likeminded female gamers. That was the whole pitch. No grand plan, no growth strategy. Just a private server where a small group of friends could build and hang out without dealing with the usual chaos of public servers.

I'm purejosh. I built the server, wrote the mods, and set up the infrastructure. Vee gave it its name and its reason to exist. That's how Veecraft started.

How It Grew

It didn't take long to realize we had something worth opening up. Discord turned out to be the perfect gatekeeper. I could sync in-game chat, verify identities, and enforce community standards before anyone ever touched the server. So we made the call: Veecraft went gender-open and 18+.

The age requirement wasn't arbitrary. We wanted a space where adults could game without filtering themselves. Where conversations could be real, humor could be unpolished, and nobody had to worry about babysitting the chat. That decision shaped the entire culture of Veecraft, and it's one we've never walked back.

The Seasons

For the first chapter of Veecraft's life, we ran private seasonal worlds for OG players. Eight full seasons of survival — each one with its own identity, inside jokes, and legendary builds. Those seasons were the foundation of the community.

Eventually, we decided it was time to stop gatekeeping the best parts of Veecraft behind exclusivity. We retired the private seasons and opened every server to the full community. The history of those eight seasons isn't gone — it's baked into the DNA of how we run things today.

The Network

Veecraft isn't a single server. It's a network, powered by Velocity, with something for every type of player:

  • Vanilla Survival Worlds — classic Minecraft, no frills, community-driven
  • The Forever World — one world, never reset, ever. Your builds live here permanently
  • Modded Servers — curated modpacks running on Fabric, with mods ranging from mild to wild
  • Minigames & Parkour — for when you just want to mess around
  • And more on the way — we're always looking for the next thing to add

Every server in the network shares the same community, the same chat, and the same standards. Wherever you play, you're playing with the same people.

Self-Hosted. Self-Funded. Self-Sustained.

Veecraft has been self-hosted on dedicated hardware since day one. In 2024, that infrastructure evolved into purehosted, a hosting company I launched to offer the same reliability to other communities. Veecraft runs on the same hardware and the same standards as every purehosted client.

We've never charged players to keep the doors open. No subscription fees. No donation goals with countdown timers. No "if we don't hit $500 this month the server shuts down" guilt trips. Veecraft has been funded out of pocket and supported by a handful of genuinely awesome people who contribute because they want to, not because they have to.

This is a labor of love. Thousands of hours of development, configuration, moderation, and community building — because this is what I enjoy doing.

What We Stand For

No pay-to-win. Everybody plays on the same field. Period.

Adults only. 18+ is enforced at the door, not suggested in the sidebar.

Community over clout. We don't chase player counts. We'd rather have 20 people who genuinely want to be here than 200 who don't care.

Transparency. Server decisions, mod development, and community direction are discussed openly. If something changes, you'll know why.

Longevity over hype. We've been here since 2020. We're not going anywhere. The only thing that would shut Veecraft down is if people stop playing — and that's a challenge we're solving together.
